2023 Jamestown Hobby Stock Rules

Jamestown Speedway Bomber / Hobby Stock Rules (revision Jan. 2022)

RULE BOOK DISCLAIMER: The rules and /or regulations set forth herein are designed to provide for the orderly conduct of racing events and to establish minimum acceptable requirements for such events. These rules shall govern the condition of all events and, by participating in these events, all participants are deemed to have complied with these rules. NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM PUBLICATIONS OF, OR COMPLIANCE WITH, THESE RULES AND/OR REGULATIONS. They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to a participant, spectator or official.

The race directors shall be empowered to permit minor deviations from any of the specifications herein or impose any further restrictions that in his/her opinion do not alter the minimum acceptable requirements. NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM SUCH ALTERATION OF SPECIFICATIONS. Any interpretation or deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the officials. THEIR DECISION IS FINAL.

The penalty for the first offense for illegal parts will be a $500 fine, 2 event suspension and loss of all season points. If found to be illegal after the track point season has ended, loss of points will still apply, and the 2 event suspension will carry over to the beginning of the following race season. A second, and subsequent offences within 24 months will result in a $1,000 fine, loss of points, and a 4 event suspension. Suspensions apply to completed events only, meaning rained out or canceled events will prolong the suspension.

A. BODY RULES

  1. Any American made car with factory specification of 108 inch wheel base. Rule adjustments may be made as needed to allow for both 108 and 112 inch cars to be competitive and affordable.
  2. No vans, trucks, station wagons or convertibles.
  3. . Minimum weight with driver: 321 cu. in or less = 3400 pounds, 322 to 367 cu. in. = 3600 pounds; over 367 cu. in. = 3800 pounds. Weight must be painted on top of left front fender, visible by scale operator.

This is a matter of safety as well as respect for your fellow competitors, and zero tolerance will be allowed if your car is determined to be a hazard to fellow competitors.

There should be a minimum of 3” from the top of the cage to the top of the driver’s head. See diagram regarding roll cage gussets.

Any driver competing in the feature event may protest providing his race car meets the minimum weight and is otherwise legal under the rules and he has registered his/her intent to protest with a track official prior to the start of the feature race and has tendered the required protest fee. The protest fee shall be $250 for the top end or $500 for total engine tear down (top and bottom). If after tear down, the engine is found to be legal, 75% of the protest fee will go to the protested driver and 25% of the fee will be retained by the track. PROTEST PROCEDURE: Immediately following the completion of the feature race, a track official will notify the driver of the relevant race car that his/her race car has been protested. The protested driver shall then proceed directly to the “claim area” where he will receive further instructions as to where the tear down will take place. A track official will be assigned to stay with the protested car until the tear down is completed.
SPECIAL PROVISIONS: Only the driver may protest. A driver may only protest one engine per race. Race officials have the final word on the legality of the race cars involved in the protest. No person shall prevent or interfere with the protest procedure. Only the driver and 2 pitmen from the protested car, the protesting driver and 1 of his/her pitmen and the appropriate track officials may be present at the tear down.

A second, and subsequent offences within 24 months will result in a $1,000 fine, loss of points, and a 6 event suspension. Suspensions apply to completed events only, meaning rained out or canceled events will prolong the suspension. Suspensions apply to both car and driver. Refusal of a protest will result in the same penalties as above.
