The first two weeks in July have to be among your favorite weeks of the summer if you live in Jamestown! The fair, the fireworks display at the races, then White Cloud Days capped off with the Dakota Classic Modified Tour at the Speedway. Its been a great two weeks! Saturday's race event is something I hope we never get used to or take for granted - we had drivers here from 17 states and Canada. Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, California, Arkansas, New Mexico, just to name a few. The Dakota Mod Tour is a tradition 28 years in the making, bringing fans and drivers from all over the country for the chance to race at six different tracks in six days. It took unending dedication from Tour Director John Gartner and many others to make this what it is today. It is very humbling to look around and realize we are a part of such a great event in North Dakota.
We ended up hosting exactly 100 IMCA Modifieds on Saturday. That meant 10 heat races followed by 6 B-Mains, and the a 30 lap feature to cap off the night. Not to mention the stellar show put on by the IMCA Stock Cars. It was a night to remember. In the Stock Cars Elijah Zevenbergen of Ocheyeden, IA picked up the win. In the IMCA Modifieds Spencer Wilson of Minot grabbed the win over tour favorite Ricky Thornton Jr of Chandler, AZ. Among the local drivers, Tracy Domagala took 5th, Jason Grimes was 8th, Shawn Strand and Jeremy Keller were 16th & 17th.
With the big events out of the way for a bit we're looking forward to getting back to some good old fashion Saturday Night Dirt Racing this Saturday. The drag races are also in town this weekend, so hit up the drag races in the afternoon, then come cool down with an ice cold beverage at the speedway Saturday Night. Check out some pictures below from Cody at CRP Photography from last Saturday.
