For Immediate Release:
Jamestown Speedway is excited to announce a tentative 2015 schedule of events at the ¼ mile dirt track on the Stutsman County Fairgrounds in Jamestown, ND. Classes competing weekly at the speedway will be the Pure Stocks, WISSOTA MW Mods, WISSOTA Street Stocks, and WISSOTA Modifieds. The popular NLRA Late Models will make two stops at the speedway this year, once on June 13th and again on Aug 1st. The Advantage RV Modified Tour stops in Jamestown on May 23rd, and we’re fortunate to host championship night of the Dakota Classic Modified Tour Friday night, July 10th. New this year is the Modified Showdown the day after the tour championship as we invite the IMCA racers to stick around for one more day of racing in the Dakotas before they head for home.
Events at the speedway get started on May 2nd with Test-n-Tune, which is kind of a practice day for drivers, crews, and speedway personnel to tune in their equipment and make sure they’re ready when racing begins the following week. Action gets going at the speedway with the season opener on May 9th. Just two weeks later they’ll host the first big event with the Advantage RV Mod Tour on May 23rd. Local veteran Jason Grimes made a strong run at the tour championship in 2014, coming up just short at the final tour race in Brainerd, MN. You can bet he’ll be gunning for redemption in 2015.
Events stay hot in June with the Bomber Bonanza, a special event for the Pure Stock class, followed by the first stop for the NLRA Late Models. Then its our annual night catering to our youngest fans with Kids Night on June 20th. Kids get a chance to ride in a real race car, win prizes, meet their favorite drivers, and take part in other activities. June 27th will be the Street Stock Spectacular, a night to showcase the WISSOTA Street Stocks – the class many see as the most competitive and entertaining in all of WISSOTA.
July is the most action filled month of the summer having 5 big events at the speedway. The Stutsman County Fair Races happen to fall on the 4th of July this year and we’re honored to be a part of the Independence Day festivities. Stay tuned on this one as details are still being worked out for the 4th of July race. Its going to be anything but ordinary. July 11th will be the championship night of the Dakota Classic Modified Tour. This will be the 26th year for the DCMT making it the longest running touring race in the Midwest. The best of the best in IMCA Modified racing from across the country will be here to crown the series champion. This year we’re going to try to keep them another night for the A-Mod Showdown on Saturday July 11th. Spec engines, crate motors, concept engines, spoilers, no spoilers, if you race a modified we want you in Jamestown on July 11th to show who’s the fastest. July could be called the month of Modifieds in Jamestown, as it ends with the MW Modified Festival on the 28th.
August includes the second stop for the NLRA Late Models. Last year’s NLRA race had drivers from three states and two Canadian Provinces. Brad Seng was the winner over second place Jeremy Keller, Cody Skytland, Dustin Strand, Tyson Turnbull and 18 other Late Model pilots. Season points are decided with Back to School night Aug 22nd and championship night Aug 29th.
September has two special events. Sept 5th & 6th will be the Labor Day Duel, with two complete shows for our normal weekly classes as was done in years past. Then it’s the big one – the 44th Annual Stock Car Stampede Sept 25th & 26th. Pure Stocks, WISSOTA Street Stocks, WISSOTA Super Stocks, WISSOTA MW Mods, IMCA Modifieds, WISSOTA Modifieds, and WISSOTA Late Models will go door handle to door handle for their chance at getting their name on the coveted Stock Car Stampede Tshirt.
We’re looking forward to the fun & exciting season of racing we’re going to have next year. Hope to see you there!
